The first team will get 12-15 snaps in the first preseason game against Pittsburgh, Tom Coughlin said after practice on Thursday.
“The first group will go probably 12 or 15 and then the rest of the guys from that point on,” the coach said. He also said all four quarterbacks will play but did not divulge in what order after Eli Manning and David Carr.
The team will be without OL Chris Snee and DB Terrell Thomas, who may travel, but will not play in the game. Coughlin said neither has had enough practice time at this point.
♦Snee will be replaced by Brandon Mosley since James Brewer was hit in the head on Tuesday and is not expected to play.
♦WR Hakeem Nicks may or may not see action. All Coughlin said was, “We’ll see.”
♦OL Justin Pugh (concussion) should be cleared for practice next week.
♦DE Justin Tuck (back) seemed to regress. Coughlin did not seemed pleased with his status, which caused him to miss practice for the second straight day. The coach was uncertain if Tuck will play Saturday:
“I don’t know. Today was not what we wanted. He’s not quite as nifty and nimble as we had hoped. We’ll have to see. I actually thought he would work today.”
♦Practice was in shells today – just helmets – and was moved inside after about an hour due to threatening lightning.
“We really did think we were going to get it in,” Coughlin said about the practice. “We didn’t think that we would get caught but there was the slim chance. When it was five miles away and the lightning was there, we had to get inside. To be able to come inside and finish practice, on a day when we would have lost some very good opportunities. It meant a lot to us.”
