The Giants chose Syracuse offensive lineman Justin Pugh with the 19th overall pick in last month’s NFL Draft. By doing so, they bypassed some players that this writer (and others) felt could help them:
OL Kyle Long
TE Tyler Eifert
CB Desmond Trufant
DT Sharif Floyd
DE Bjoern Werner
CB Xavier Rhodes
LB Alec Ogletree
Which one of the above – if any – do you feel the Giants will regret NOT taking in Round One?
Personally, I think the team liked Pugh more than any player in the draft because of his versatility. Would they have chosen some of the other lineman ahead of him? Hard to think they would have passed on Lane Johnson, DJ Fluker, Jonathan Cooper or Chance Warmack had they been available.
One question no one has even asked, so it really can’t be answered, is why San Francisco traded up with Dallas at 18 to take LSU safety Eric Reid. Did they feel the Giants might take Reid? We’ll never know….
