Let the games begin. After weeks of shopping him, the Philadelphia Eagles have released embattled WR/KR DeSean Jackson today. (Kempski)
Jackson was released partly because of his affiliation with gangs in his hometown of Los Angeles, an allegation which he denies. Regardless, it is being reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that no less than six teams are hot on the trail to sign Jackson.
Can the Giants be one of them? Not likely. But what of they were? Jerry Reese vows to explore everything. But he’s got to pass on this one. For the Eagles to cut Jackson outright, there must be some truth to the tale.
Also, Jackson is perhaps the most hated opponent of the Giants and their fans. If you recall, he was the main antagonist in the “Meadowlands Meltdown” of a few years back. Giant fans will not stand to see him in Blue. With the recent signings of Trindon Holliday, Quentin Demps and Mario Manningham, they really don’t have a place for Jackson anyhow.
