David Diehl will have surgery on his thumb and is out for six weeks, the Giants announced.
The surgery is to correct “instability” in his thumb on his right hand.
After an MRI on Wednesday morning, the injury was determined to need surgery to repair.
Diehl was seen wearing a cast on his right hand on Tuesday, though he practiced and said that he would “be all right.”

Well, this is a turn….six weeks from now is Oct 2, which means Diehl will miss the first four games of the regular season.
The Giants may now decide to shift Boothe back to LG and let Jim Cordle play center. Or, the team may leave Boothe at center and insert James Brewer or Brandon Mosley at LG until C David Baas (knee) returns in the next few weeks.
