Update – 4:28 p.m.: Chris Snee has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, the Giants announced.
Snee needs season-ending hip surgery, according to Ralph Vacchiano.
Snee is “not thinking” about his future right now, but surgery is “likely where we’re heading.”
Vacchiano notes that the surgery may be “career-ending.”
Snee is under contract through 2014.
Snee being placed on IR will clear room for LB Jon Beason, who the Giants traded for early Friday morning.
John Fennelly, Lead WriterYeah, I think this is the end for Snee, who is a good guy and a great Giant. I don’t see him coming back after this. Now the Giants must move on. Interior lineman are aplenty in free agency and the draft, but the Giants need to replace Snee this second.
David Diehl is coming back just in time to ride out the season at RG, but the Giants are going to need to get a full-time player (or three) to restock their offensive line.
