A much better effort this week from the Giants. Defense getting touched a little bit, but playing more a more aggressive style. The offense is picking up as well. Eli sacked twice and pressured, but thanks to a moving pocket, he’s completed 12 of 17 for 140 and a TD. Rushing game is 9 for 42 – or 4.7 yards per carries
Fewer dumb penalties and no turnovers until 5:45 in the 2nd when Eli was sacked and stripped of the ball on the Giants’ 34. But the Giants returned the favor two plays later when Spencer Paysinger fell on an aborted snap.
So far, it’s been about missed chances. For instance….
On the first drive of the aftenoon, LB Mark Herzlich batted down an Alex Smith pass on a 3rd and 6 from the KC 41 to force a punt. Rueben Randle fielded the punt on the Giants’ 3 and rambled 43 yards up the far sideline tot he 46. The run was called back due to a penalty on Justin Trattou: Illegal Block Above the Waist, 10 yards, enforced at NYG 18. The Giants went three-and-out (with a delay of game penalty on 3rd down thrown in) and punted.
The Chiefs got on the board first with an 11 play, 98 yard drive. QB Alex Smith hit TE Sean McGrath for a 5-yd TD to seal the deal.
On the next series, the Giants tapped into the Salsa Express to tie the game on a 69-yard TD strike from Eli Manning to Victor Cruz to tie the score at 7.
Kansas City took the lead on a 51-yard FG by Ryan Succop right inside the 2:00. The Giants then went on a nice, 2:00 drill moving the ball down to the Chiefs’ 35 yard line. On 4th and 2 with 28 seconds to go, Eli completed a seven-yard pass to Cruz to keep the drive going.
Josh Brown then hooked a 44-yard attempt to the left as the half ended.
Chiefs 10, Giants 7.
