Can No. 12 pick in draft make impact for Giants?

There have been some very solid players taken with the No. 12 pick in the draft over the last several years, the most notable being Marshawn Lynch in 2007.

Rumors and speculation have the Giants looking at players like North Carolina TE Eric Ebron, Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald, and Notre Dame OT Zack Martin. It is considered a deep draft, so combine a 7-9 record with the expectations that come with playing in New York, a big contributor is expected in the first round.

“You would like to think that the 12th pick would be a player that can come in and contribute right away, but you have to earn your positions here,” GM Jerry Reese told reporters this week. “We don’t give guys positions.”

Not to be rude or anything, but looking at the history of players picked at #12 could be the most pointless exercise I've ever seen. That has zero relevance to whether the giants can get an impact player in that slot.

I think I can speak for Giants fans when I say…."We hope so!"
