Brandon Jacobs is unlikely to play tonight, according to multiple media reports. He will be a gametime decision, officially.
That leaves the Giants with Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox, neither of whom have a carry this season.
Hillis was signed last week and Cox is a rookie seventh-round draft pick.
John Fennelly, Lead WriterJacobs had a setback on Saturday, but it wasn’t known of it would put his status in jeopardy. Things have obviously changed.
Should he not be able to go, it would leave the Giants in another “next man up” situation with the newly-signed Hillis (who only has a toehold on the playbook) and the untested rookie Cox in the backfield.
The Giants will have no choice but to go with an extremely pass-oreinted attack. The Vikings’ secondary has been hurting and Big Blue will seek to find the mismatches.
