Beckham will not play Friday vs. Jets

Odell Beckham Jr. will not play against the Jets on Friday, Tom Coughlin said.

He did not suffer a setback, but was on the bike to start practice on Tuesday.

“I don’t consider this a setback. I see it as another step in getting back to full strength,” Beckham said through a release from the team.

Beckham has been working back from a hamstring issue, but pulled up during drills on Monday.

The rookie wide receiver has seen only a few reps in all of training camp, outside of individual drills.

Beckham was not in pads and did not stretch with the team.

Peyton Hillis, Charles Brown, Prince Amukamara, Xavier Grimble and Trindon Holliday all did not practice.

I'm starting to get very worried here with this kid. This is the same injury that has kept him out since May. There are guys who return from broken bones quicker than this. Hamstrings are tricky things, but I am worried. Some people may think I'm overreacting, but even if he goes week 1 it's going to take him 4 weeks to get into game shape. As we all saw last year with the 0-6 start, you can't win a Super Bowl in December, but you can certainly take yourself out of the running for one. It's obvious he's an integral part of this offense & if he's not ready to go then this offense won't be clicking on all cylinders. I didn't like the draft pick to begin with & now I'm really hating it. Speed guys are difficult to deal with, and they tend to tweak their hammies quite often & when you take the hammy away from a speed player, you take the player out of the game altogether. I still think the Giants would've been better off with Kelvin Benjamin, but that didn't happen. We have to deal with what we have & it appears that come week 1 we are going to be playing without a first round draft pick.

Stop drafting LSU players.Never seem to work out.

I think Reese should have taken an OL in the 1st round too but I do think Beckham could be special.  He's obviously really injured so all the "taking steps" stuff is fluff.  I'd rather have him miss half the season and come back healthy than play hurt and get hurter.

Don't rush a hamstring injury, else they can lose him for the season.

It sucks that he's missing all of pre-season, but then again, I don't expect much this year.

He's faking it........doesn't want to practice thinks its too much work and can do it with out it......Coughlin is seething.

When was the last time a first round lineman had to basically miss training camp and pre season because of an injury?  Never.  Only players worth taking in the first round are O-linemen.  But hey, Giants have all that talent and depth.

"Get hurter"? Lol. Normally I let things like this go, but that's a bad one, brother. Try this:

"I'd rather have him miss half the season and come back healthy than play hurt AND RUN THE RISK OF FURTHER INJURING HIS HAMSTRING, WHICH COULD COST HIM THE ENTIRE YEAR."

"Play hurt and get hurter" is pretty bad. I don't think I've seen "badder" in a long time.
