Prince Amukamara has not had long-term contract discussions with the Giants yet (Hubbuch, May 13).
“I haven’t given them a return on their investment,” Amukamara said.
The Giants recently picked up the cornerback’s fifth year option (BBB, May 7).
“Definitely relieved,” Amukamara said of the Giants picking up his option. “Everyone wants to be wanted, and if they didn’t pick up my option it would just show they didn’t trust me.”
The option is worth around $7 million. The Giants can still sign him to a long-term deal (Vacchiano, May 1).
“We think he’s a good player, so we exercised the option,” General Manager Jerry Reese said.
