Afternoon News: Barden Ready to Split; DT Jenkins Meeting With Giants

Some quick hits from the perimeter….

According to Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News, WR Ramses Barden is ready to test the free agent waters…..

Veteran DT Cullen Jenkins, who was recently released by the Eagles, is reportedly set to meet with the Giants, Derrick Gunn of CSNPhilly has learned…

The Eagles released the nine-year veteran defensive tackle on Monday along with Mike Patterson, both of whom are better suited to play in the 4-3 scheme instead of the 3-4, which the Eagles are expected to adopt…..The Giants play a 4-3.

Jenkins signed a five-year deal with the Eagles in 2011 following the lockout but had his contract restructured before last season. He was scheduled to earn $5.5 million this season and will receive $1.5 million unless he signs for more elsewhere (in which case he won’t count against the Eagles’ cap).
