The Giants are rounding into shape and they will need to be at their best Monday night in Washington when they face the surging Redskins. Tom Coughlin spoke about several players, including Redskins WR Pierre Garçon, who did not play in the first game vs the Giants. The coach cited that he added “veteran leadership, outstanding receiver, speed, all of the above,” to the Washington passing attack:

“I think anytime you have a player of that quality, no question. Just another weapon that they can utilize and he’s made his mark in the games he’s been back.”

On OT Sean Locklear, a former Redskin: “Whenever called upon, he’s done a good job….He’s very conscientious, he works hard. He has a lot of pride in what he does.”

On if Mathias Kiwnanuka will play on the defensive line:  “Well, he was very effective in that position last weekend.”

On Kiwanuka playing well at both LB and DE: “Well, it’s rare, it’s not easy. It’s a difficult thing. When you sit back and try to assess exactly…this happened a couple years ago, how to get your best players on the field; that was a way we could do it.”

RB Ahmad Bradshaw on the importance of rookie RB David Wilson: “Very important. I’ve been telling him all week when I was a rookie… When I first got my play time, Derrick Ward went down with a broken leg and I was able to step in and be a huge part of our offense. So I’ve been telling him, staying in his ear trying to help him out as much as possible and he’s just absorbing and learning…..I just try to feed him a lot of the little things because that’s what he has problems with. When he’s running the ball and reading the guards’ blocks and just being more patient. A lot of our runs are patient runs and waiting for the frontline to make a certain block or for the defensive line to jump outside and you know we cut it up. Just little things I can help him with. He has great vision, great speed. He’s a sponge right now to absorb all the information.”

DE Osi Umenyiora on staying disciplined vs RGII: “Very important, especially with a guy like him. When he breaks the pocket, it’s not like he’s just looking to run the football all the time. He’s making big plays down the field with his arm, so we definitely have to try and keep him in front of us, but that’s easier said than done.”
