ESPN New York considers Giants DT Chris Canty a candidate to restructure his contract.
The Giants are up against the salary cap, and Canty is due $6.25 million in 2013 after appearing in just nine games this season. Beat writer Ohm Youngmisuk believes Ahmad Bradshaw, RT David Diehl, CB Corey Webster, LB Michael Boley and DE Justin Tuck other restructure candidates, but doesn’t predict anyone’s outright release. The New York Post considers it “doubtful” that Ahmad Bradshaw’s roster spot is in danger at a scheduled salary of $3.75 million for 2013.
Bradshaw acknowledged himself that he’s no lock to return. The Post cites coach Tom Coughlin’s desire to have two or three quality backs in his stable. GM Jerry Reese has stated that David Wilson has “lead dog” potential, but the coaching staff hasn’t deemed him starter-worthy just yet. Of the Giants’ returning starters, LB Michael Boley ($4.25 million) is the most likely to be cut. Source: New York Post
