Giants’ mulling Mario return?

Ebenezer Samuel of the Daily News reports that former Giant WR Mario Manningham will be visiting the team today. If right, he could be the guy to fill the open WR slot this season…

It’s hard to know what the Giants would get out of Manningham in his second tour of duty, given that he tore his ACL in 2012 and struggled to return from that last season. The Giants seem set to go with Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle and Jerrell Jernigan as their top three receivers, but now that Hakeem Nicks is gone, the team does need depth behind that trio. Manningham would likely provide that.

He’s not my ideal candidate, but he is a known entity. Signing him doesn’t rule out any future moves at wideout the Giants might be contemplating. If can draft a stud, they’ll still do it, but Mario would compliment the current group nicely.

re-acquiring Manningham is not a bad option; obviously if the money works and they feel he is sound health wise. Acquiring a WR in the draft would be wise as well, but not in the 1st 2 rounds. The Giants can get a solid WR between rounds 3-5 and be very happy. Some names to consider are Brandon Coleman, Martavis Bryant and perhaps Donte Moncrief. All are big WR's with speed.

I'd like to see Manningham come in on the cheap, and then have the Giants draft a WR.

I think they should be good with Cruz, Randle, Jurnigan, Manningham, and whoever they draft.

I think that would work.
