The Detroit Lions (4-7) lost to the Houston Texans (10-1) yesterday at Ford Field in overtime, 34-31, but it was due to extenuating circumstances. Isn’t that always the case with these Lions?

QB Matthew Stafford leads the NFL in passing yards and WR Calvin Johnson leads in receiving yards. So, how are they only 4-7? They don’t put the ball in the end zone when they need to. That will do it every time. Stafford has only thrown 14 TDs to 10 INTs. WR Calvin Johnson and TE Brandon Pettigrew are in the top 10 in dropped passes this season. The Lions also are -7 in turnover ratio.
Is RGIII the best QB in the NFC East right now? Hard to argue that he isn’t. Operative phrase being right now. Yesterday, he went 20-28 for 311 yards and 4 TDs. He picked up 29 more yards on the ground in the Redskins’ 38-31 victory in Dallas. His next game isn’t until Monday, Dec 3rd when Washington hosts the Giants. Perhaps he’ll cool off by then.

If you’re a Giant fan, this release will scare you a bit. Not too many things going in the Giants’ favor in this matchup according to the authors. Except…..the Giants defeated the Packers in the playoffs twice in the past five seasons. They don’t really dwell too much on that fact….
One of the reasons the Giants’ offense has struggled has been the health of WR Hakeem Nicks, one of the NFL’s most underrated players. Nicks is healthy now and ready to lead the Giants back to the playoffs. READ
WR/KR Randall Cobb is the latest weapon in Green Bay’s arsenal. So, how are the Giants planning on dealing with him? Jorge Castillo of the Star Ledger explains.
In one of the more interesting pieces I read today, Mike Ozanian of Forbes.com is calling for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to intervene and restructure the Jets, much like Pete Rozelle did with the Giants in 1979. READ
