WR Hakeem Nicks is not practicing with the team today. As per SNYGiants insider Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News:
The Giants’ wide receiver wasn’t even listed on the injury report on Wednesday, but on Thursday he was back on the sidelines, riding the exercise bike as the rest of his team participated in practice. The exact reason isn’t known, but Nicks has battled foot and knee injuries all season long.
Nicks sustained a bloody nose/mouth during the second quarter of Monday’s game in Washington. With 4:58 remaining in the first half, on a 2nd-and-16 from the Redskins 49, Eli fired a pass to Nicks, who had slanted into the middle of the field at the Washington 30. The pass was little high, but Redskins DB Cedric Griffin jumped on Nicks’ back, preventing him from making the leaping grab. Griffin was flagged for pass interference on the play, and rightfully so.
On Nicks’ way to the ground, however, is where he ran into trouble. LB London Fletcher incidentally collided with Nicks’ face mask as he flew past him, causing the injury. Nicks was slow to rise to his feet and walked off the field without assistance. He returned to the game a few plays later after receiving medical attention on the sidelines.
Not sure if this play has anything to do with Nicks not practicing today. Tom Coughlin will address injuries after practice. S Kenny Phillips (knee) is also sitting practice out today.
