Nicks will sign a one-year “prove it” deal if necessary

Hakeem Nicks is not going to be picky in free agency. He’s willing to sign a one-year deal if things come to that. From Rotoworld:

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports free agent Hakeem Nicks is open to playing on a one-year contract to prove his 2012 and 2013 seasons were “aberrations.”
Nicks is also open to re-signing with the Giants. If he can’t return to New York, Nicks wants to go to a team with a proven quarterback. Mortensen also adds that Nicks’ past foot and knee injuries have been cleared and deemed 100 percent by Drs. Robert Anderson and James Andrews, respectively. Each doctor wrote a letter of recommendation for Nicks, and copies were sent to all 32 teams. Nicks has been linked to the Ravens and Patriots since the season ended.

It looks like Nicks is is daring teams to sign him to a “prove it” deal with strings. Tom Rock of Newsday hit this one right on the head….

We all know Nicks is just doing this to gather interest. His stock has plummeted the past two seasons and he failed miserably last year when he needed to to show teams his true value. Maybe he did.

nicks had his chance and blew it imo, let him play for a long term contract somewhere else.

Now that he knows he needs to prove himself this could be a lucrative signing for the G-Men. With all the needs elsewhere this may be a good opportunity for the Giants to sign him for one year for the right price and focus elsewhere; buying them one more year. There's no way he plays 16 games without being injured; he just can't. Maybe Reese can make the Pats overpay for Nicks.

How the mighty have fallen. The fan in me says come back home for that 1 year deal. But the "guru" in me says, "where is the 2011 playoff run" version of Hakeem? Because that guy was worth a contract, not the last two version. I will gladly sit back and draft Evans at 12. Younger, bigger, faster and unbelievable in the air.

I'd welcome Nicks back on a team friendly deal but would also like to see the Giants possibly take a quality WR in the first two rounds just in case.

If we draft Evans and Nicks signs with us for one year the only thing he would prove is how not to get splinters on the bench.

Like to see him return to NY for a team friendly deal and show us (prove it) again.
