Giants Ring of Honor: Who’s Next?

The Giants Ring of Honor contains all the pertinent figures in the 88 year history of the franchise. In 2011, the team added five more names: Alex Webster, Dave Jennings, Brad Van Pelt, Mark Bavaro and Carl Banks.

As players retire and/or we revisit some former Giants’ contributions to the club, we compiled a list of some more names that could possibly be added to the Ring:

DE Leonard Marshall

DB Jimmy Patton

DB Spider Lockhart

RB Rodney Hampton

WR David Tyree

RB Brandon Jacobs

GM Ernie Accorsi

Let’s hear your comments and recommendations….

I thought Carl Lockhart was in.........no one faced more passing pressure than #43.

Ernie Accorsi gotta be a lock drafted players that went to three different super bowls lossing one and two more after that.  Sure he wasn't the GM for those two rings but the Eli risk paid of and that big risk defines him.  Without Erni we probably don't win wo superbowls.

You know how feel about Jacobs another Lock for me.  hate him or love him he bleeds blue.  two rings and the most TD in history of giants enough said.

Tyree great moment but just wasn't a giant long enough for me and was primarily a special teamer a very good one though.

Here's the challenge.  We should't add people just for the sake of adding people.  Hampton and Jacobs were good giants - but not great.  Tyree had a significant play in the SB, but was an adequate player.  Patton and Lockhart died before their time - but Patton was a 5 time pro bowler.

I could be convinced about Accorsi - but think George Young is in because he transformed a franchise.  Accorsi didn't - although players he drafted did win 1 SB.

Marshall probably deserves consideration

At this point, only Patton and Marshall really seems deserving.

Patton and Spider. Patton goes back to glory days of 50's and 60's. Spider one of best from a tough era for Giants. After that Marshall and Ernie

out of that list, leonard and brandon. one could make the case that we don't get to superbowl 25 without his hit on super joe in the nfc championship game and he was also a stalwart on that d-line. jacobs was true blue and was on two championship teams.
