Monday Afternoon Notes: Diehl Pleads Guilty to DWI Charges

According to TMZ.com, Giants’ OL David Diehl pleaded guilty to DWI in a Queens court today.

The charges stem from his arrest last summer after he smashed his BMW into several parked cars on 31st Street in Astoria after watching a soccer game on TV at a local restaurant.

As per TMZ:

Diehl was ordered to wear a SCRAM bracelet for 90 days and was placed on a 6-month conditional discharge program … meaning he’ll avoid jail time if he keeps his nose clean.

The two-time Super Bowl champ was also ordered to pay $1,200 in restitution and $300 in fines.

There is speculation that the Giants could cut Diehl – or at least his salary – this offseason. He is due to make $4.475 million this year. The team may have had second thoughts about releasing him because both Will Beatty and Sean Locklear are scheduled to become free agents next month.
