The Brandon Jacobs experiment in San Francisco has come to close. The former Giant RB was sent packing by the 49ers yesterday after a tumultuous season. He was injured in training camp and never figured into the Niners’ plans, dressing for only three games and gaining a mere seven yards on five carries.
From Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com:
The 49ers have officially to waived disgruntled running back Brandon Jacobs on Monday at the conclusion of his three-game suspension, coach Jim Harbaugh said.
Jacobs is ineligible to join another team for the playoffs. Players claimed off waivers after the regular season are not assigned to their new teams until after the Super Bowl.
The 49ers suspended Jacobs for conduct detrimental to the team after he expressed his displeasure with his playing time and the 49ers’ coaching staff on social media outlets.
