RB Andre Brown is shooting for 22 TDs and 1,300 yards this season.

RB Andre Brown, cut by Houston, headed back to NYG?

Former Giants’ RB Andre Brown is on the street again. He was cut by the Houston Texans yesterday.

Brown was not pursued by the Giants after becoming a free agent this past March. He signed a veteran-minimum deal for $645,000 with Houston, but apparently the relationship has gone sour.

Brown did not play in the Texans’ game vs Arizona last Saturday night. He had apparently fallen from being Arian Foster’s primary backup to the bottom of the Texans’ depth chart.

So, will the Giants look to re-sign him? GM Jerry Reese, who claims to “explore everything”, is probably already on it and has made a decision. Keep in mind, the Giants lost David Wilson for good and do not have Peyton Hillis (out indefinitely with an ankle injury).

Brown could serve as backup to Rashad Jennings, Hillis and Andre Williams, but it’s unlikely the team will give up on Michael Cox and/or Kendall Gaskins at this point. Brown’s injury history will be the likely reason the the Giants pass this time around.

If Hillis is OUT for a while,

i would be ALL for the RETURN of RB A. Brown......

if we get 8 games out of him,

And 8 Games outta Hillis, thats a Season...

P-Squad RB M.Cox....

....... REESE is also looking into RB B. Jacobs.....

If it means losing a good player to make the 53 man roster we would normally be keeping, I would say "no" to signing Andre Brown. Even at a veteran's minimum contract, he is injured much more often than not, which makes him unreliable. The roster spot is much more valuable than the salary that would be paid to Brown. And since there is the possibility of keeping three QB's on the roster this season because of Reese's refusal to give up on draft picks like Nassib (or TE A.Robinson as a non-QB example), that roster spot becomes even more valuable than filling it with an oft-injured, unreliable player like Brown.
