Former Giants’ RB Andre Brown is on the street again. He was cut by the Houston Texans yesterday.
Brown was not pursued by the Giants after becoming a free agent this past March. He signed a veteran-minimum deal for $645,000 with Houston, but apparently the relationship has gone sour.
Brown did not play in the Texans’ game vs Arizona last Saturday night. He had apparently fallen from being Arian Foster’s primary backup to the bottom of the Texans’ depth chart.
So, will the Giants look to re-sign him? GM Jerry Reese, who claims to “explore everything”, is probably already on it and has made a decision. Keep in mind, the Giants lost David Wilson for good and do not have Peyton Hillis (out indefinitely with an ankle injury).
Brown could serve as backup to Rashad Jennings, Hillis and Andre Williams, but it’s unlikely the team will give up on Michael Cox and/or Kendall Gaskins at this point. Brown’s injury history will be the likely reason the the Giants pass this time around.
