Buzz: Giants looking to bring back Andre Brown

The Giants are showing interest in bringing back RB Andre Brown.

From Rotoworld: “With David Wilson (neck) in doubt and virtually nothing behind him, bringing back Brown is a clear priority for GM Jerry Reese. The interest is mutual as Brown said he’ll do the deal “tomorrow if you want.” Brown bounced back well off his preseason broken leg, debuting in Week 10 and proceeding to rush 139 times for 492 yards (3.53 YPC) with three touchdowns. Something similar to the three-year, $10 million deal Shonn Greene got from the Titans last year would make sense for both sides.”

John Fennelly, Lead Writer

That’s good news. Brown is a competitor and a tough north-south rusher. But if they sign Brown, they’ll have to sign another player as well. His durability is always in question. He has yet to play a full season since entering the NFL in 2009.

Reese may not be the smartest GM in history but he's not the dumbest.

No way Brown gets $10/3.

Giants need to think outside the box more so than ever this coming season, they have many needs and although I like Brown when healthy he has shown no ability to remain healthy which to me should tell the Giants to look elsewhere as they clearly need a legit/healthy back to help this offense. If they want to give him an incentive type deal that that would make sense but anything more would be a stretch due to his injury history. Time to go and get a number one type back in free agency.

Giants should look at UFA RB Ben Tate and see if he would be a good fit for the team.

He'd be an option.  I've always felt that the way the NFL offenses are run these days, a stud RB isn't necessary.  Many teams, Giants included, have succeeded with RB-By-Committee system.

Brown has yet to play more than 10 games in a season and his highest rushing total is 492 yards.  Shonn Greene was coming off consecutive 1000 yard seasons with the Jets when he signed with the Titans.  I'm fine with resigning him but it should be for less than what the Titans paid Greene.

I couldn't agree more. How is he worthy of $3 mil. per? A mil a year plus incentives should do the trick and if someone else wants to give him more than he should take it. He's had 3 serious lower body injuries and has proven he can't carry the ball 30 times a game.
