Another stellar morning in the NYC Metro Area. The Giants will practice today and tomorrow before heading out to Canton on Saturday. They will play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night in the Hall of Fame game. The big event, however, will take place the night before – the induction ceremony of the HOF Class of 2014 featuring former Giant DE Michael Strahan.
FOX analyst and reporter Jay Glazer will deliver the induction speech for Strahan. Glazer and Strahan have been close friends for years and are currently colleagues at FOX.
Only three players on the Giants’ current roster can claim Strahan as a teammate: QB Eli Manning, DE Mathias Kiwanuka and LS Zak DeOssie.
Of course Coughlin, along with several of his assistants, still remains. Coughlin was asked what it meant to have coached a Hall of Fame player.
“Incredible pride. Michael Strahan was a great football player. He had ability and was taught right from the beginning. He practiced hard, ran to the ball, was a great example for the younger guys in doing that, and excellent in the classroom. He was a dynamic leader and had one of those magnetic personalities where everyone was attracted to him.”
Coughlin said the whole team will pass through the Hall of Fame on their way to the hotel on Saturday. He, along with John Mara and some other Giant dignitaries, will attend the ceremony.
“To be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame is a wonderful thing and gives us another great Giant,” the coach added. “When we go out there and pass through the Hall of Fame, we can see the bust of another great Giant football player along with all the others.”
