The Giants will continue their “open to the public” workouts later today. Practice begins at 5:40 p.m. and will run through 7:50 p.m.
David Diehl, Shaun O’Hara, Kareem McKenzie and Deon Grant will be in attendance to sign autographs from 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Fans can also procure a limited edition “Giants Pride” t-shirt featuring the team’s 90th season commemorative logo on the chest, as well as a Giants pride poster or 90th season pennant. The LBs will be available for autographs after practice as well.
Some quick notes…
The Giants officially waived/injured David Wilson yesterday and released DE Kendrick Adams, leaving the team with two open roster spots. They inked veteran DE Israel Idonije and TE Jerome Cunningham to fill the openings.
Idonije is being brought in for depth. His signing goes against Jerry Reese’s new credo to get younger, but if you watched JPP get schooled by the Bills rookie OT Seantrel Henderson the other night, there is some concern at defensive end.
Cunningham is listed at 214 lbs. That’s way too small to play TE on this level. I’m guessing he’s going to play WR.
On the injury front, RB Peyton Hillis sustained an ankle sprain during last night’s practice. He probably will be held out of Saturday’s game vs the Steelers. That will open up reps for Michael Cox and Kendall Gaskins.
