Day One of the Giants’ 2014 mandatory minicamp is in the books. Here are some quotes of note from Tuesday’s media session:
“I hope. He’s got to. That’s where he would fit as a receiver and he’s done a nice job in there when he’s been in the slot.” - Head coach Tom Coughlin on special teamer Trindon Holliday contributing on offense as a slot receiver.
“It’s night and day, from the first meeting we had we had a lot of questions and were trying to understand some of the rules, when you can make changes even from the cadence, there were a lot of things going through and we were playing real slow because you’re thinking, the offensive line’s thinking, you’re trying to explain things to them on the run so there was a lot going on. I feel today we had a pretty good practice, we’re moving around fast and making some plays.” - QB Eli Manning on if he feels more comfortable with the offense compared to the start of the offseason program in April.
“Yeah, we have a good linebacker corps so you have Spencer (Paysinger), you have Mark (Herzlich), you have (Jon) Beason, all of those guys are a big help for me, Jacquian (Williams). All of those guys with experience are kind of bringing me and showing me the ropes and showing me the tapes. I watch film on them a lot just to see how they do things, the little things, the vet tricks that they have that I try to pick up on and implement myself.” - Rookie LB Devon Kennard on if any of the vet LBs has taken him under their wing.
“Absolutely. I think guys are really picking up the offense quickly and they’re out there doing what they have to do to prove to the coaches that they can be out there and that they can be accountable and that they know what they’re doing.” - WR Victor Cruz on if he feels any of the other wideouts are stepping up.
