Giants’ Injury Report: 16 and counting…

The Giants’ 35-24 win over the Jets at MetLife Stadium Friday night came at a price. Four more players were injured, most notably LG Geoff Scwhartz, who was carted off with a dislocated toe.

“It’s pretty serious,” Tom Coughlin said after the game. “Hard to play with a toe that’s not functioning.”

Rookie Weston Richburg replaced Schwartz at LG. He may be there for awhile as Schwartz will likely be out for a few weeks. The starting line, which struggled to protect QB Eli Manning vs the Jets, will likely be: Will Beatty at LT, Justin Pugh at RT, Richburg at LG, Brandon Mosley at RG and JD Walton at center.

WR Marcus Harris left the game with a shoulder injury. CB Zack Bowman injured his triceps and DT Markus Kuhn, who can’t seem to avoid injury, left with a leg issue. More to come on those.

That leaves the Giants with 16 players unavailable due to injury. Players who sat out on Friday:

WR Odell Beckham Jr. (hamstring), WR Trindon Holliday (hamstring), OL Charles Brown (shoulder), OL James Brewer (back), CB Prince Amukamara (groin), CB Jayron Hosley (foot), S Cooper Taylor (foot), RB Peyton Hillis (ankle/foot), TE Xavier Grimble (hamstring) and MLB Jon Beason (foot/PUP).

Beason is on schedule to return Week 1 of the regular season…Prince should be ready by then, too…when Beckham will be able to make his debut is still unknown…Hosley is suspended the the first four games, so he’ll be ready by Week 5 for sure, if he’s brought back at all…Brewer and Brown will be on the roster, so they’ll likely be back this week…no idea on Hillis’ status…the Giants could be losing patience with Holliday, he’s on the roster bubble…Grimble could be placed on IR or the practice squad…Taylor’s season could be over.

Thank god JPP isn't hurt.

Odell Beckham missing the pre-season is going to seriously impact this years performance.

I finally got around to watching the game; had to listen on 880 since I'm out of market. They looked good the first series or two but then fell apart. Their defense did not play as well as I expected. Listen, I am hoping they can compete but they are struggling pretty bad. Now with Schwartz down what will they do?

I hate to say it but it's going to be a very long season. They still don't look good and I see a repeat of last year; a very poor start and maybe put it together somewhere around mid season but by then it will be too late. No playoffs again this year and hopefully they can win more than 5 games. so frustrating.

@homerjay .... Why even root for winning more than five games IF they are going to be as terrible as you think?  The worse their record, the better their positioning in the draft for next year. The only question will be, who will be running that draft for the Giants at that time?  Hopefully it's not Jerry Reese.
