The latest news is Joel embied will probably miss another full season so do the sixers take a gamble on the international big.

Hopefully they draft "The Zinger"...

Let's not get fancy with this one and grab Russell mudiay or okafor!

Trade Melo. We are going to stink next year anyway... Fetch some picks, and call it a day

@firedolan I would trade Melo for a high, unprotected pick next year.....but he's not waiving his no trade clause to go to Minnesota or some place like that...

Lakers picks this year, and their pick from last year? He definitely ain't going to Minny

starksoakmase

@firedolan Ha! The Lakers wouldn't even give us just their first this year for Melo sraight up let alone throwing in Randle....

firedolan

You don't think so? Melo is a top 10 player in the league, I think they would. Kobe is in his last year, they need a ticket seller

@firedolan they need to rebuild. they don't want that loser. but i would trade Melo straight up for their second pick in a heartbeat....

Melo can help them recruit players. I think we could get more then a lottery pick, but he would have to agree to the trade, that's the rough part

A swap between the Knicks and kings makes so much sense especially if you're talking about swapping the number 4 pick and Jose Calderon contract in exchange for the number 6 pick and Darren Collison and then with the number six pick we draft Willie cauley-stein and a number four the Kings draft Emmanuel mudiay.

Anthony Gaetano DeCesare
Anthony Gaetano DeCesare

I'm not looking at collison as a long term answer. but he fits the system better then does Calderon, Calderon can't guard you at least Collison can play defense

@Anthony Gaetano DeCesare  I don't like this trade. Collison has not been the long term answer at point guard for any team he's been with and I don't think he'd be the answer for us. I agree with the defensive minded front court option, but WCS is too one dimensional even with the 6th pick...

Anthony Gaetano DeCesare
Anthony Gaetano DeCesare

how do you know that Emmanuel mudiay is all-star caliber point guard nobody is ever seen him play if you trade down you get a rim protector defensive oriented Center in Willie cauley-stein and you get a point guard in Collison he's not the long-term answer but he can't play defense and he can shoot 3.you also by trading down pay the first round pick less money which means you have more money to use in free agency to get other players at other positions

The Knicks had Willie Cauley Stein's ceiling on their roster. They traded him back to Dallas last summer.

Emmanuel Mudiay certainly has the tools and potential to be a star pg.

You cant trade Tyson Chandler, tank and turn around and draft Tyson Chandler with the franchise's first top 4 pick in 30 years. Getting a back up pg incidentally wouldn't make this less loony.

Get a defensive big with the MLE, or sign Robin Lopez. The Knicks need a potential 2nd star with the pick. Not a roll plying center. You won 17 games for Christ's sakes. Try to draft a star at 4. Figure out the roll players elsewhere.

PASS. Collison is coming off of hip surgery

Chill Anthony. can't trade a potential all star pg for a backup pg and a roll playing center. A team on the brink of contending may be justified in doing this. A 17 win team? Not so much. Knicks fans need to stop lying to themselves, thinking this this is a team, 1 to two pieces away from contending.

No matter whether u trade chandler or didn't, the team was going to be bad this past year anyway until you got bargs and amare's money off the books. The only reason I haven't gone off the ledge with Phil is because he got rid of JR Smith which I didn't think he was going to be able to do. He had to use Shumpert to get rid of him but we had no choice and we didn't have 1st round picks to trade.

If we stay at 4 I think without question Winslow is the pick and then I think with the 30 million of cap space we have we go sign Monroe, Robin Lopez and Patrick Beverley.

We trade down to 6 we have a little more cap space in free agency because we pay the 1st round pick less money and I think they take Willy Cauley Stein at 6, trade Calderon's money(2 years 7.8 mil per)and his non ability to play defense in exchange for Collison's money(3 years 5 million per)and his ability to play defense and to hit the 3. Then I think with the 30 million of cap space we have we take a run at signing Aldridge or Monroe along with trying to sign Dwayne Wade as well.

Starting 5 for both scenarios:

If we stay at 4:

Beverley, Winslow, Melo, Monroe and Robin Lopez

If we trade down to 6.

Collison, Wade, Melo, Aldridge or Monroe, Willy Cauley Stein.

Anthony Gaetano DeCesare

I could even see a scenario where the Knicks trade down from 4 to 8 where Detroit is, especially now that they got Illyasova at the 4 to replace Monroe.

We could end up trading the 4 along with Calderon's money and Tim Hardaway Jr to the Pistons for the 8th pick and Brandon Jennings's expiring contract. Detroit at 4 would probably take Winslow. They need a 2 and a 3. So they get both in one deal. No jennings is not the long term answer at pg, but the bottom line is u get rid of calderon's money and u have more money to play with in 2016.With the 8th pick we take either Frank Kaminsky or Trey Lyles. Then in free agency we take a run at Monroe to play C and Wade or Demarre Carroll to play 2 guard.

Possible starting 5- Jennings, Wade or Carroll, Melo, Kaminsky or Lyles at the 4, Monroe at the 5.

30 mill is definitely not getting you Monroe, Lopez and Beverley

Anthony Gaetano DeCesare
Anthony Gaetano DeCesare

Oh yes they can....15.7 mil max contract for Monroe, 8.5 million per for Lopez and Patrick Beverley for 6,184,450 million per. ..that's 30 million.

I like the way you think. Question for you:

being that the Deangelo Russel has made it clear that he wants no part of Philadelphia, wouldn't it make sense for Philly and NY to swap picks, with NY sweetening the deal with a couple of second rounders and THJR?

firedolan

If you think Beverley is only getting 6 mill, I'll end the convo on that note!

@RivDim Willie cauley-stein is the most athletic big man in this draft.I'll put his athleticism on par with Anthony Davis.too bad he doesn't have his skill set.

If "if" was a spliff, we'd all be high.

And how do you pay the rest of the team now that you spent your entire cap ?

Anthony Gaetano DeCesare
Anthony Gaetano DeCesare

Theirs not many roster spots you would have to fill on a minimum salary.

Beverley, Winslow, Melo, Monroe and Lopez are starting, your bench is Calderon, Hardaway, Galloway, Early already under contract, they still, have the rights to Laraybe and Antetokounmpo the 2nd round picks thry drafted last year. they're attempting to buy a second round pick from somebody and chances are they will be able to they probably bring Andre Bargnani back and I would not be surprised at all as a matter of fact I would bet money on it that Phil Jackson is going to take a chance on Andrew Bynum on a minimum contract..

Anthony Gaetano DeCesare
Anthony Gaetano DeCesare

If we won't get Beverley I can see the Knicks end up getting Brandon Jennings in exchange for Tim Hardaway Jr and either Langston Galloway or cleanthony early

#EdMemphis
#EdMemphis

Why is everyone so gunho to get Jennings who even on a one year is an extreme risk considering he is fresh off of a crucial Achilles tendon tear. I take the Sacramento deal ASAP & take Winslow NO MATTER WHAT! & go after Harris, Monroe, Koufos in Memphis, Robin Lopez & Wade

wingo43
wingo43

I don't know anybody who still bashes Phil for the JR & Shumpert trade.  And by the end of the year, Tyson Chandler looked like the same player we all came to know and not like very much.

starksoakmase
starksoakmase

@wingo43 the tyson chandler trade was bad because we are stuck with calderon for two more years at over 7 mil per year....

Phil Jackson needs to stop trying to prove he's a basketball genius. It's a PG league get Mudiay or Russell, whichevers available.

grundy
grundy

@PeteyWheatstraw Because GS, ATL & HOU each had amazing point guards (Jeff Teague & Beverley), 3 out of the 4 final four teams this year. Curry is a combo guard not a PG. CLE was the only team in the final 4 that actually had a big time prototype PG, and have Lebron to play the point forward role.

It's not a PG league it's a shooting (3 point shooting) league. You can get by very nicely with average to above average point guard play if you have big time shooters on your team.

Anthony Gaetano DeCesare
Anthony Gaetano DeCesare

Oh yeah! Well tell us the last time a team won a championship where the best player on the team was the PG??? Leave this year out of it.

Anthony Gaetano DeCesare
Anthony Gaetano DeCesare

Some people will say Billups was their best player, some people will say Sheed was. If you talking the Isiah years then I agree but that's along time ago.

starksoakmase
starksoakmase

@Anthony Gaetano DeCesare yea, both of those runs. but the best players on a winning team has been all five the last 30 years. Thomas, jordan, bron, duncan, the dream/shaq

@rico @Anthony Gaetano DeCesare 50 years ago when the game and rules were far different than they are today (defense, 3 point line). That's like saying well the Cubs won last won the world series in 1908 and had pitchers who had 20+ CG, clearly they need pitchers who can throw 20+ CG in 2015 in order to have a chance again....logic fail
