The mock draft season is about to swing into full gear soon. The Giants, with the 12th selection overall, have a plethora of holes to fill and it’s anyone’s guess who they will target in the first round.
“We need some help in a lot of areas. Everything is a priority. We’ll start the evaluation process and we’ll look at some places where we went wrong,” GM Jerry Reese said after the season. “We have a lot of things we want to fix and we will fix it.”
ESPN’s Mel Kiper, Jr. and Todd McShay have released their picks: Alabama LB CJ Mosely and OT Taylor Lewin of Michigan, respectfully.
Walter Football has the Giants selecting Florida State DT Timmy Jernigan in Round One, RB Carlos Hyde of Ohio State in Round Two and Texas DE Jackson Jeffcoat in Round Three.
Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout has the Giants taking Lewin and Dane Brugler is mocking UCLA OLB Anthony Barr to Big Blue.
And Nate Davis of USA Today believes the Giants will take Oklahoma State CB Justin Gilbert.

Jerry Reese contends the Giants draft the best player available on their board when they are on the clock. We’ve seen that, but we’ve also seen him take players at need positions. Of course, the two can coincide at times.
Personally, it’s too early to project who will be there when the Giants’ turn to pick comes around. They will look to fill needs in free agency first. Keep in mind, the free agency period begins March 11th and the draft isn’t until the first week of May this year.
Depending on who they are able to retain/attain in free agency. I don’t see them going DT unless Linval Joseph leaves. Re-signing Joseph is supposedly a priority this offseason. It’s hard to see them taking Mosely if they bring back Jon Beason, but Mosley will be hard to pass on.
OL, CB, RB are all needs and fans will embrace a high selection that brings a quality player at one of those positions.
