Which Giants have a shot at the Pro Bowl?

Chargers.com writer Ricky Henne was asked by one of his readers who on the Chargers could make the Pro Bowl this season…

“I think there are a number of players who are worthy of making it. Just off the top of my head, and I know I am going to be leaving some people out so don’t hold that against me, but I feel like Philip Rivers, Nick Hardwick, Keenan Allen, Danny Woodhead, Antonio Gates and Nick Novak are certainly worthy of making the squad.”

Then, I began to think who on the Giants has a shot at the Pro Bowl….and I’m still thinking because there hasn’t been many who have delivered week-in and week-out.

Last year, on offense, Chris Snee and Victor Cruz were named and Eli was an injury replacement. JPP was voted in as a starter on defense.

This season, Snee is on IR, JPP is having an off season due to injury. As for Eli, he doesn’t deserve it. Cruz’ numbers are consistent. He is currently 7th in the NFC in receptions with 66 and 9th in receiving yards with 961. He’s only salsa-ed four times this year, though.

Antrel Rolle is having a strong season, perhaps his best as a pro. He is second in the NFL in INTs with 5 and is third in the NFC in tackles among strong safeties. He also has 15 passes defended.

Prince Amukamara was urged by Jerry Reese to “play like a first-rounder” before the season. I think he’s doing that. He’s been a key player this season and has done everything the Giants have asked him to do. All that’s left to do for him is dunk JPP into a tub of ice to make this a complete breakout season. His 59 total tackles are the most by any CB in the NFC this year.

Steve Weatherford has been criticized by the coaching staff for his placement of punts and other mistakes, but overall, he’s been one of the best punters in the conference. He is first in attempts and total yardage and fourth in average. No way he makes it, but his season has been better than most think.
