Justin Tuck is not specific about how the Giants settle Victor Cruz’s contract situation. He Just wants it done. Tuck said he didn’t care if Cruz missed all of the offseason workouts, providing he’s there on opening day.
“As long as he’s No. 80 for the New York Giants, I’m cool with that,” Tuck said at his R.U.S.H for Literacy event at Umberto’s in New Hyde Park last night.
Jason Pierre-Paul was also there, rebutting Tom Coughlin’s assessment that he was out of shape at the beginning of the 2012 season.
“I was always in great shape,” JPP said. “I’m still the same size this year. People say I look slimmer but I’m the same weight. I don’t know what they see in their eyes.”
“I was a major factor on the defense and I was putting pressure on the quarterbacks 24/7,” Pierre-Paul said as per Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News. “I think I played very good last year. My numbers didn’t show for it but whenever I stepped on that field everybody knew that Jason Pierre-Paul was dominating that tackle or that tight end or playing the running game.”
JPP also believes the team must rededicate itself to more consistent play. The Giants may have won Super Bowls over the past six seasons, but they also failed to qualify for the postseason in three of those years.
“We can’t B.S. around this year,” he said as per Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN NewYork. “The falling down, and going up, that [stinks]. You know what I mean? Because it’s like every year it happens. Every year.”
