Report: Jets Eyeing Ramses Barden

According to Mike Garafolo the Jets have had conversations with former Giants WR Ramses Barden, currently an unrestricted free agent.

From Rotoworld: The 6-foot-6 wideout’s market has been nonexistent, but could pick up now that the draft has come and gone. Little more than a big target, the former third-round pick caught just 20 passes in four seasons with the Giants.

John Fennelly, Lead Writer

Good for him. This could be a good fit for both parties. The Jets need weapons and usable players. They have no red zone threat that we know of and the big WR may finally find his niche in this league by taking advantage of his size in Marty Morningweg’s new offense.

Two Absolutely great choices, in my opinion

Regarding MDC, he is so much like JT the year we drafted him. I remember speaking with Brad Selwood, who was John's first Junior Coach, and him telling me that John had two outstanding traits: his Drive and Leadership. Now, 5 years later we know Brad Selwood, could not have been any more correct.

Everyone I speak to uses many of the same adjectives describing Michael Dal Colle, the drive to succeed, The innate seriousness with how he comports himself, True his family life, with a Brother, who is autistic, would cause one to be a bit more serious and perhaps more mature than your normal 17 year old, but Its a comparison that I do not take lightly.

Dal Colle may not be another John Tavares, after All John is a Generational talent. But if I had to pick 2 traits Id like any Islander draft choice to mirror, its those two. And in my discussions with people who have worked with Michael, those attributes are a common thread.

Skill matters of course and that will be important if he will be an NHL player, but Drive, Determination, and Leadership is what makes those Skills relevant. Something tells me Michael Dal Colle, is our next Great young Islander

Flew in for this draft party. I'm very happy with the picks. I am a islander.

From watching his highlights on YouTube I can't help but wonder if he makes the team and plays with JT and KO.

An NHL comment, is there a better player-team marriage than Ritchie going to the ducks? And on the heels of getting Kesler? That team is a bunch of big boys that just got even grittier and tougher to play against.

Sang is very intelligent, way more than our coach and GM.

Guess you haven't seen the interview yet when he said he's very excited and was extremely nervous. Most people don't look happy or comfortable when nervous.

What's that got to do with intelligence? I have a M.S. proud to have earned it (60 credits in 2 years), but how is that supposed to be a barometer on intelligence (intuitive, emotional, learned, or otherwise)?

I don't know where you were going with that one, Matt, but let me let you in on a secret:

B.S.= is what it sounds like

M.S.= more of the same

Ph.D= piled higher and deeper

Orange. Just that you know how hard you worked for your degree and that it is not easy to obtain. I meant no offense to your intelligence, just defending Garths. Call some of his moves stupid fine, but don't call the man so.

Well look, if I was coming across, or am, arrogant, than allow me to apologize. I've never posted anything to come across that way, intentionally.

But, yes, I hate Chucky cheese blind. Or is it because I see?

isles23
isles23

That's a separate debate zee, and frankly one we don't have to get into because I think we know were each other stand. As far as the picks, early grades are all good for the isles. IMO when it comes to drafts unless its a pick where everyone says wtf were you thinking, like when Milbury passed on Parise, I tend to be positive and look at what the potential risk reward is because the fact is nobody knows.

wangbegone
wangbegone

Yeah. I honestly have no opinion of the picks...first, I just don't have the time or inclination these days to watch QMJHL, CHL, WJC, WHL like I used to, but even if I did, I'd be sick to my stomach by now, knowing that so many years of this franchise has been about highlighting the year with the draft.

I must wonder why of all organizations to take a risky first rounder, this one (of course) would be the one to do it, especially at this juncture, but who knows? Maybe by the time the mixed-ethnic kid plays, he's a bit more balanced and humble and plays great. Who knows?

If it were me, the Isles would have had Ritchie, though, merely because they need size.
