Report: Jets Eyeing Ramses Barden

According to Mike Garafolo the Jets have had conversations with former Giants WR Ramses Barden, currently an unrestricted free agent.

From Rotoworld: The 6-foot-6 wideout’s market has been nonexistent, but could pick up now that the draft has come and gone. Little more than a big target, the former third-round pick caught just 20 passes in four seasons with the Giants.

John Fennelly, Lead Writer

Good for him. This could be a good fit for both parties. The Jets need weapons and usable players. They have no red zone threat that we know of and the big WR may finally find his niche in this league by taking advantage of his size in Marty Morningweg’s new offense.

Two Absolutely great choices, in my opinion

Regarding MDC, he is so much like JT the year we drafted him. I remember speaking with Brad Selwood, who was John's first Junior Coach, and him telling me that John had two outstanding traits: his Drive and Leadership. Now, 5 years later we know Brad Selwood, could not have been any more correct.

Everyone I speak to uses many of the same adjectives describing Michael Dal Colle, the drive to succeed, The innate seriousness with how he comports himself, True his family life, with a Brother, who is autistic, would cause one to be a bit more serious and perhaps more mature than your normal 17 year old, but Its a comparison that I do not take lightly.

Dal Colle may not be another John Tavares, after All John is a Generational talent. But if I had to pick 2 traits Id like any Islander draft choice to mirror, its those two. And in my discussions with people who have worked with Michael, those attributes are a common thread.

Skill matters of course and that will be important if he will be an NHL player, but Drive, Determination, and Leadership is what makes those Skills relevant. Something tells me Michael Dal Colle, is our next Great young Islander

Flew in for this draft party. I'm very happy with the picks. I am a islander.

From watching his highlights on YouTube I can't help but wonder if he makes the team and plays with JT and KO.

dal colle definetly DID NOT look happy to be drafted by the islanders. And can you blame him?   This loser owner has to go he has turned this team into a total laughingstock

An NHL comment, is there a better player-team marriage than Ritchie going to the ducks? And on the heels of getting Kesler? That team is a bunch of big boys that just got even grittier and tougher to play against.

Sang= Jamaican, Asian Jewish.  Has there ever been a Jewish Islander before?

Sang is very intelligent, way more than our coach and GM.

I guess he did .The guy doing the interview was like you cant say that.

This Sang seems like a real arrogant prick just like the man who drafted him.

Guess you haven't seen the interview yet when he said he's very excited and was extremely nervous. Most people don't look happy or comfortable when nervous.

Not sure, interesting question. I wish he were our first Asian though. Oh how I wish.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement. Thanks for posting the link.

Right with you Sam

A lot of what I read compared Demko to the Ducks, Gibson. We certainly couldn't use that.

dkdk
dkdk

That is a team that you never want to play against.

For a guy that complains about waiting for a rebuild you sure are pining for a goalie that may take 4-5 years to develop.

Even garthy sounded a little angry tonight.

That is a team building to try to beat the Kings!

I was hoping everyone would forget park! It would have made the wang reference go over better ... Lol .

Just curious, either of you guys have a masters degree?

dkdk

Yeah I took my son and his friend. They had fun. Some good pictures on this mechanical bull thing. It was pretty funny.

dkdk

Because Demko will be ready by the time this snot is exiled to Europe and I guess I missed Gibson taking 4-5 years.

@dkdk- Aww, good for you pal. I'm sure they had a great time with you as a shaparone. Obviously, I was on my roof chatting with Jep, Vic, and the boys. How as the overall vive? Excluding, the $10 hot dogs and pop...

isles23

Time will tell dk but you don't know the future anymore then me. Why I said it could take that long and the numbers show it takes longer for goalies to develop.

@orange2327- And right above Penn station is you know what. There will be some Rag boys waiting for Snowy and his trac phone. Hope he's got some security, you know, the guys that walk around down there in those uni's and have that " man, when is quitting time" look on their puss..

I gotta get some sleep, the wife is starting to sound like we do. Night fellas..

Park was awesome for what his role was. I was upset when we let him walk.

Congrats orange, well deserved I'm sure. I have BA myself from Wentworth. Not a masters though...

Hey orange I minored in history myself.

It was a bit of a mix, there were a lot of guys in there 20s praising snow and a lot of guys my age and above worrying. Funny you mention the prices, I got them each a pretzel and a soda and got hit for $27! The one downer is my son LOVES Strome and just as we came out of the lockerroom he was right in front of us takig a picture and I got there next and he was whisked off by handlers for an interview. He even asked the handler if he could take one more because he saw my son's flowing face but they wouldn't let him hang back. He mouthed that he was sorry to me which did mean a lot to me.

dkdk
dkdk

And when did I say I did? You are the one that needed to come out slinging with my "impatience". I simply said there is a pressing need for a goalie and gave a stud comparable. We have a shyt load of undersized talented forwards already. It would be nice to have a guy that some project to be a Gibson like prospect.

Its a simple fact of life fellas. I know a few people that have masters or doctorates and guess what, they are the smartest people I know.

Look at you Brooklyn College boys!

bammer26
bammer26

@dkdk- LOL, geez. that's an average of over $6 bucks per item...! Gotta love them fan prices for attending and buying. Sorry no go on Strome, I hear he's a nice kid, very personable. Hope no go on the #12 highway for Strome...

isles23

Yes and that stuff you speak of didn't go in the first round did he?

dkdk
dkdk

Doesn't Obama have a few of those degrees?

isles23
isles23

Orange. Just that you know how hard you worked for your degree and that it is not easy to obtain. I meant no offense to your intelligence, just defending Garths. Call some of his moves stupid fine, but don't call the man so.

dkdk
dkdk

Yep .... I was one that wanted Strome badly and I was very worried the way he looked when he first came up but I am still hoping he becomes the goods. It was refreshing to see that he seemed to be a good kid. Honestly looking at things now through the eyes of a 10 year old changes things a lot. A few years ago I became a huge KO fan even though he wasn't really producing and I always pulled hard for him because of how Incredibly good he was to my son and all the kids for that matter. At the time he was at an autograph table next to a little hockey net set up and some kids were shooting around. He signed an autograph for my boy (no real line) and had a real convo with him but kept looking at the kids playing. He asked me if I thought it would be bad if he joined in, and I was like a ton of kids get autographs but only a few can say they played hockey against an NHL player. He jumps up, grabs my son, and goes your on my team, let's go kick some butt.

And if it weren't for snow oh sang may have gone in the 4th round, so what is your point other than defending snow and initiating a debate with me? When many teams remove you from their draft board there is a problem whether you want to believe it or not. And since snow didn't believe it I know you won't.

isles23
isles23

Zee, I've never once knocked your intelligence. I may believe you can be arrogant or hate blind but you are clearly a smart guy.

isles23
isles23

Yea and he was smart enough to fool the country not once but twice...

isles23
isles23

I'm just stating a fact. 29 teams pasted on demko as well so its hard for me to rip snow for passing on him. Who knows though draft isn't over, we could still land him, no?

dkdk
dkdk

And I am stating fact, if you exclude snow there is no proof Demko wouldn't have gone before him. And that isn't even he argument. The argument is need. We have ONE goalie under contract in the organization. That is one, uno, single.

isles23
isles23

That's a separate debate zee, and frankly one we don't have to get into because I think we know were each other stand. As far as the picks, early grades are all good for the isles. IMO when it comes to drafts unless its a pick where everyone says wtf were you thinking, like when Milbury passed on Parise, I tend to be positive and look at what the potential risk reward is because the fact is nobody knows.

isles23
isles23

I dont get you are saying, Snow is the reason nobody took Demko? But regardless if we took demko that would've changed that we have one goalie under contract? He'd be back in college this year. No different than Mikko in the KHL. Like I said though, draft isn't over.

dkdk
dkdk

What I am saying is the old adage of it takes one idiot like they always say about ridiculous free agent contracts in baseball. It sounds like oh sang was a guy many wanted no part of, so if snow didn't jump he may have been around 100 picks from now.

isles23
isles23

And he might not have. We felt it was the right time to jump up and snag him. Who's to say we don't do something similar tomorrow?
