No Room For Leach After Giants Ink Rookies

The Giants came to terms with both of their remaining unsigned rookies today when both Justin Pugh and Ryan Nassib were formally brought into the fold.

Pugh’s cap hit is around $1.5 million and according to Pat Traina, should reduce the Giants’ available cap space to around $2 mil.

Whether or not that is accurate, it still means the Giants have very little wiggle room to sign the likes of free-agent FB Vonta Leach.

Dave Hutchinson of the Star Ledger is reporting that Leach has grown weary of waiting for the Giants and Dolphins to make an offer. He’s apparently going back to Baltimore…

The Giants had expressed interest in Leach, a bruising blocker, in the wake of a knee injury suffered by starting fullback Henry Hynoski last month in minicamp. But his price tag was too high for the salary cap-strapped Giants, who offered only a veteran’s minimum contract.

That;s not going to do it for Leach, who will get a deal worth twice that from the Ravens. At this point, we’re not sure the Giants even have the room to make Leach an offer.

No matter. By tomorrow, Leach should be back with Baltimore.
