Monday Morning Report: Interviews continue

John Fennelly, Lead Writer

Not much happening today. The Giants did not get to meet with Green Bay QB coach Ben McAdoo this weekend due to weather issues, but he is supposed to be in here today for an interview. No other interviews for the OC opening are scheduled for now.

While Mike Sullivan still remains the favorite, the Giants want to make sure they don’t settle for Sullivan for familiarity purposes. Fans were irate over Kevin Gilbride’s playcalling over the years and Sullivan is practically a carbon copy of Gilbride. May we add, Tampa fans were not pleased with Sullivan this past season.

To be fair to Sullivan, the Bucs’ offense took some major hits this season. QB Josh Freeman lost the confidence of head coach Greg Schiano and the owners leading to his release. Sullivan was forced to run his offense with rookie QB Mike Glennon under center.

In addition, injuries to RB Doug Martin, OL Carl Nicks, WR Mike Williams and RB Mike James put a huge damper on the Bucs’ offense. The Giants will surely be taking the lack of talent into account when considering Sullivan.

Now that the final four has been set, the Giants are facing the reality that either the Seahawks or the 49ers will be camping out at TIMEX for Super Bowl XLVIII. On the other side of the ledger, the AFC will be sending either Tom Brady or Peyton Manning to MetLife for the big game.

Eli won Super Bowl XLVI in Peyton’s old building (Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis), so perhaps he will return the favor.
