JPP’s absence opens door for Damontre

With JPP not practicing yesterday, and not scheduled to practice today, the writing is on the wall for him: He’s probably going to miss Sunday’s game in San Diego.

Tom Coughlin told reporters yesterday not to expect JPP “to do anything tomorrow.”

JPP’s absence will open the door for rookie Damontre Moore to get more playing time. Last week in Washington, Moore got in 17 defensive snaps while Justin Tuck and Mathias Kiwanuka were on the field the entire game.

“We’ll add on some more to this particular game. We’ll try to increase it a little bit more,” said DC Perry Fewell when asked if Moore will see more action this week.

The issue with Moore is experience. We’ve seen that he can rush the passer, but there’s more to the DE position than QB pressure. Fewell was asked his take on Moore’s performance vs the Redskins.

“Some good, some bad. It’s good to see him play and it’s good to see him get that game experience,” said Fewell. “We’d love for him to get more experience, so he’ll take more snaps this week. There’s a lot of things that we want him to improve on because he has a lot of potential as a player…He’s a football player. He’s a complete football player. He’s got to be able to play the run and the pass. We’ll definitely do that.”
