According to Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal, Giants’ DE Jason Pierre-Paul has cut ties with NFL superagent Drew Rosenhaus.

No reason for the move has been announced nor has the identity of JPP’s new representation team. We shall find out early next week.
He is not eligible for free agency until March 2015. Pierre-Paul is coming off surgery to repair a herniated disc in his lower back and has struggled this season to put it kindly. Has 19 tackles (16 solo) and just one sack through the Giants’ first eight games this season.
To be fair, the surgery and the missed time this summer has set the All-Pro back considerably. He walked right on the field opening night without the benefit of having gone through training camp and the preseason.
“I’m still trying to get my techniques down right, my angles on the passer and on the tackle, how I’m rushing the tackle. I go back and look at old film from 2011. Also, this year, seeing the simple things that I’m missing from my game. I try to put them all together at once but at the same time I’m not trying to overdo it and think too much and throw my game off…. I know for a fact that I’m not as strong as I used to be. I’ve been going to the weight room to try and lift weights and get my strength back. That will build up as time goes on…”
We have openly questioned the Giants’ decision to take JPP off the PUP list this summer. He clearly was not ready to play. It’s safe to say now that 6-9 more weeks of recovery/strength-building time would have done JPP a world of good. The Giants could have kept Justin Trattou or Adewale Ojomo around in the meanwhile instead of cutting them loose. Trattou is currently on the Minnesota Vikings’ roster and Ojomo was signed and released to the Seahawks’ practice squad and is now on Buffalo’s PS.
