From Rotoworld: The Giants worked out free agent RBs Beanie Wells and Jonathan Dwyer on Tuesday.
It’s the first we’ve heard of Wells since June. The Giants also worked out Leon Washington, and have “spoken to” Kevin Smith, Tim Hightower and Ryan Grant. They’ll almost certainly sign a veteran back in the very near future, but will likely wait until after Week 1, when teams are no longer required to guarantee the contracts of vested veterans.
John Fennelly, Lead WriterThey’re going to need another RB after placing Andre Brown on temporary IR today. They can’t possibly go eight weeks with just three RBs on the roster. All of those players mentioned are veterans that can certainly come in here and play a role as a short-yardage back and pass protector.
The Giants also added OL Steven Baker to the practice squad, meaning someone on the practice squad has wither been promoted to the 53-man roster or waived.
