Giants Training Camp: First Practice This Afternoon

The Giants will be out on the field at Quest Diagnostics Training Center (formerly Timex) this afternoon at 1:30 for their first of practice of their 2013 training camp. Today’s session os open to the public. Click here for information.

The team reported yesterday for their conditioning evaluations. Five players were placed on preseason PUP: OL Chris Snee, CB Terrell Thomas, FB Henry Hynoski, DT Markus Kuhn and DE Jason Pierre-Paul.

Big Blue has few storylines going into camp. Outside of the injured players and a few position battles, this should be Camp Tranquility. All players are under contract and no one seems dissatisfied with the coaching staff or management.

GEICO SportsNite has coverage of yesterday’s activities as the Giants opened up training camp for the 2013 season.

The thing that really excites me about this team , other than winning is that everyone is contributing. The balance this team has had so far is unbelievable.

Unbelievable calgary pulls its goalie and scores 2 goals in the final 2.22 to tie it up at 4.

I'm not hearing people talking about the Islanders' "November problem" lately.

14 - 6 after 20, and twenty games nearer the old fraudster, Chuck Wang, not havng the Team as leverage for his dirty schemes...

I'm downright giddy!

Keep it going, boys.

Probably a lot of islander fans watching these games and upset they aren't in last place trying to collect that next first over all pick and discussing effective ten year plans to escape last place you know at least a third of islander fans get off on that stuff more then winning if you have been following the last ten or twenty years

Great job by the Isles.  Long time coming for the fans, glad to be a part of it.  Downie is a real POS, glad Hamonic stood up to that garbage.  Pens are classless and once again they were able to skate 8 players per shift, the league should just allow the refs to were Pitt jersey's.  Whatever, that bull did not matter tonight,  ISLES WIN!!!!

Relentless. No matter the score or situation. They are relentless.

Nice to watch this team. Man, it seems like forever since I've felt this way. There's a willing attitude you can just feel, watching them. The chemistry seems to be finding this group. The additions are a huge reason for it. Solid up and down the line-up. B-slapping Pittsburgh, twice in a row… Thank you Islanders.

Starting to hear phrases like "Islanders are Legit", "Islanders are for real" on the NHL network.

Pens scored first, but the Isles scored second, third, fourth, and fifth, i will take that everytime. lol

Yesterday I predicted because of Coach Capuano's wise use of his goalies, it would be a narrow win on the road and a blowout win at home.  Blind squirrels find acorn. Brock Nelson and Anders Lee are The Men!!

    Noticed on the Montreal Gazette during their liveblog of the Canadiens game, when the Isles went up 3-1, Mike Boone said he's convinced, the Isles are for real.

my only concern after this great big win is  a big let down playing mon. night against philly. isles cant beat philly at home usually getting bombed. yes, this is a different team but that is a concern. i wouldnt be as worried if it was a tue. night game but playing so soon on a mon. night does make it more difficult. isles should not play mon. night games anyway. they should play tues, nignt games instead. more rest as well.

I believe they call it depth in the studio......out here in the perimeter we call it an old fashioned arse whipping.

@tonelli27 It looks like the cup finals will be Islanders Calgary.  What are the odds?

dinbigd

@puckdad99  Why would they? Have you not seen the standings. This team is much improved & obviously the best team Isles have had for a long , long time. W/ that said enough of the stirring of the pot. Whether you agree or not w/ what many fans were concerned about before this Nov. wouldn't you have agreed their points were valid? Now move on & lets all enjoy what looks to be a great season.

@puckdad99

like a bad toothache, hopefully it is gone

@shamwow

14-6..

Why bother discussing the success, when you can count down the ownership change in 20 months..

You know what would be tremendous?

The Isles win the Cup in the spring of 2016, Wang gets to celebrate winning the Cup, cashing out $500 million and still holding a piece of the team..

With Cappy and Snow involved as management.

Chucking glorious...

@shamwow one more day off the calendar sham that wang is no longer the head indian. Hes getting a seat in the kiddies teepee and we are happy little scouts.

@Joe Lazzaro Joe, I understand the point you are trying to make,but my suggestion is to forget about those people and enjoy the success. They think their hate was justified by the way the team was performing in the past with the lack of income and you are never going to convince them otherwise.

Let's go Islanders.

dinbigd

@Joe Lazzaro  That was all they had to talk about. Times have changed. You mean to tell me you actually thought any of those rosters were enough to get excited about? Your statement is an ignorant one Joe.

@Robert Konigsberg I was concerned before they left for the west. i was concerned when they played the kings and tampa bay. I was concerned when they had a back to back vs Pens.  Should I be concerned about a letdown vs. philly?  I guess, but they have come through over and over so far.  Hey, they are going to lose eventually, but it's how they play after a loss or two which is the real tell.

Todd Walsh
Todd Walsh

@Robert Konigsberg please everyone should relax.  winning every game in nov is not as important as being ready mentally in the spring.  No team can maintain this ridiculously high level of play for 5 months.  as Al used to say, "peak at the right time"

Todd Walsh
Todd Walsh

@shlo @tonelli27 oh my.  Please easy does it.  Until they beat the rangers in the playoffs, they arent going anywhere.  Rangers will be ready in the spring.  Will we?  I hope so.

shamwow

@rmbbanned2

And while you and your benefactor are busy counting the 500 million - it was always all about the money for the old fraudster...

I'll be celebrating new ownership and watching Chuck Wang exiting Barclays through the service entrance like so much other dirty laundry.

Happy days are here again!

Todd Walsh
Todd Walsh

@rmbbanned2 @shamwow everyone is so confident that new owners will be a positive move.  Every time new owners come in here they disrupt what has been going on.  If anything disrupts what snow and cappy have been trying to build here, that will be the worst thing imaginable.  Wang has left them alone to build this team correctly.  Lets hope the new owners see it the same.  Im scared for this problem

@tonelli27

counting the days, one at a time

@islesfan77 @Joe Lazzaro

I myself remain convinced by facts...

Such as Chuck Wang's sordid past.

But I'll leave the propaganda to hapless sorts like yourself.

Isleguy27

No kidding. And if the Isles lose on Monday, I'm sure he'll be posting on here in upper case how the Islanders suck and Capuano should be fired.

erika

@Todd Walsh @Robert Konigsberg Al also used to say, "If you don't think you are going to win every game then stay off the ice"!...We have the talent, we just have to get that mindset....

dinbigd
dinbigd

@Todd Walsh @rmbbanned2 @shamwow  Lets get one thing straight Todd.......Wangs building of this team was not based on love for hockey or providing a winning team at that. He penny pinched until he lured in buyers sold on his sweetheart deal w/ Barclays. To give him credit for that is a slap in the face of every owner who truly cares about winning & invests in their team accordingly. You can also say this team would be right where we all thought they would be(last place) w/o the free agent signings of Halak, Johnson, Grabo, Kulimen, Boychuck & Leddy. Now this all coincides w/ the sale of the team but who gets the credit??? I'd lean towards Garth for the right moves & new ownership for more than likely forcing Wang to loosen the purse strings. i'd also give Wang zero credit for Garth as he brought him in strictly as a cost cutting measure. Garth may be the smartest man in the room when all the dust settles & some will debate if it was dumb luck. I give Garth credit on this team as it is truly his.

Todd. Very well said. The past few years have been very tough but you know what, they are paying off big time. We need to stay the course now and not have a change in philosophy

Todd Walsh
Todd Walsh

@Isleguy27 agreed.  If they have a let down game and lose on monday, it means nothing.  The most important thing is to get yourself in,. then be physically and emotionally ready for the playoffs.  If they treat every november game like its teh end of the world, they will be spent by spring.  As Al always said "peak at the right time"

Todd Walsh
Todd Walsh

@puckdad99 @Todd Walsh @Robert Konigsberg of course it does, but if every game is treated like the end of the world in Nov, a team will be spent by Spring.  That is why Al always said "Peak at the right time"  what does that statement mean to you?  Does that mean pedal to the metal in november?  Certainly not.  Just get in the playoffs, then "Peak" in spring.  If they are in first place at the end of the season, well then so be it.  great.  but that shouldnt be the priortity.  Priority is to win the cup, peak in the spring.  As Al always said.

@jrjr

oops sorry, i see what you were referring to. my bad

@jrjr

No joe here, just having a problem with posting with my name, so give it a chance
