According to SNYGiants insider Mike Garafolo, the Giants have pulled the trigger on former Eagles DT Mike Patterson. Terms of the deal are forthcoming.
Patterson gives the Giants more than enough depth on the interior of the defensive line now. Doesn’t mean they wont bring in more later this month via the draft and the UDFA market, but the signing of Patterson and an another former Eagle, Cullen Jenkins, eases the immediacy to fill the dearth at the DT position.
In other news, SNYGiants insider Ralph Vacchiano has confirmed the Giants are entertaining two players: Former Patriots’ everyman Julian Edelman and former Houston Texans’ OL Antoine Caldwell.
Caldwell, an All-American out of Alabama, has started only 19 games in his four-year NFL career.
Edelman was one of Bill Belichick’s pet projects in New England, playing WR, returning kicks and even was even tried at CB. He was being groomed as Wes Welker’s replacement, but since the Pats signed Danny Amendola, Edelman has been shoved back down the depth chart. He won’t find much playing time here, either.
