The Giants re-signed tight end Bear Pascoe to a one-year, $715,000 deal for the upcoming season.
The two sides had an agreement in place about a week ago, but today made the signing official.
Pascoe has shown his versatility over the years on offense, playing both tight end and fullback. He has 26 career receptions for 252 yards and a touchdown in 50 career games.
With Pascoe re-signed, the Giants now have 25 players that are soon-to-be free agents.
Jim Mancari, ContributorIt’s nice to see the Giants re-sign a player rather than keep subtracting. However, those salary dumps were necessary to get the Giants closer to the cap number.
A deal for $715,000 for a backup tight end isn’t exactly a crippling deal like the three others were.
Pascoe is a nice role player to have, and his work ethic is never questioned. He does the little things right and doesn’t seek the praise.
This move in no way precludes the Giants from bringing back last year’s starting tight end Martellus Bennett, who will be a free agent.
But the Giants will need depth in case of injury, and Pascoe can provide that depth.
