The Giants filled out the remaining spot on their practice squad today with DB Jawanza Starling, a UDFA out of Southern Cal who was waived by the Houston Texans this past weekend. Starling (6’0″, 202) is primarily a safety and excelled in the 3-cone drill and the shuttle run.
About Jawanza Starling:
- Started 33-of-42 games he played in at strong safety at USC
- Started the final 33 games of his career and totaled 128 tackles (80 solo), four interceptions, 11 pass breakups, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries, including one for an 80-yard touchdown
- Also was an outfielder on the 2010 USC baseball team, appearing in nine games with two starts in centerfield and batted .300 (3-for-10) with one RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base
