From the Media Notes: Giants vs. Redskins

Jim Mancari, Contributor

Each week, I will be taking a look at the Giants’ media notes to pull out some interesting facts about the upcoming opponent.

In Week 17, the Giants (6-9) close out their season at home against the Washington Redskins (3-12).

It’s a pretty much meaningless game, but at least the Giants would like to end the season on a high note.

Here are some interesting Giants’ notes about this week’s opponent:

- The Giants are 93-64-4 all time against the Redskins in 161 meetings. Big Blue won the matchup Dec. 1 of this year 24-17 at FedEx Field.

- Eli Manning’s fourth-quarter comeback Sunday against the Lions was the 25th of his career, which ranks him fifth among active quarterbacks behind Peyton Manning (50), Tom Brady (35), Drew Brees (31) and Ben Roethlisberger (29).

- Will Hill’s 38-yard interception return for a touchdown was the Giants’ second defensive touchdown this season, Jason Pierre-Paul returned an interception 24 yards against the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 17.

- Jerrel Jernigan scored his first NFL touchdown on Sunday.

Upcoming milestones:

- Andre Brown is 135 rushing yards away from 1,000 for his career.

- Rueben Randle is one touchdown away from 10 career touchdown receptions.

- Hakeem Nicks is three touchdowns away from 30 career touchdown catches. Through the first 15 games (of which he’s played in 14), Nicks has not caught a touchdown pass.

"Oh look. It's Melo!

He's the greatest, now that he's leaving The Knicks!" - Everyone USA

Damn you. Damn you all.

Is he giving up 33 million?  Most of that money is just due to the extra year.  Melo will be playing somewhere the 5th year and probably for a lot of money.

Why would Melo want to go to Dallas?  They have about a two year window with Dirk.

Melo n dirk on same team would easily be the worst defensive team n wow, you play in west.

I actually would pee myself laughing if Melo went'tn to Dallas under the umbrella of "I want to win a championship now."  It would actually show how unintelligent he really is.

I also don't want to hear a F*****G PEEP from the media about Knick mgmt/ being the reason for his departure if he chooses to go to chicago.  Chicago has been warring with Thibs for two to three years now, can't get Rose on the court, and are cheap as can be.

Can't see Melo taking a bench role in Miami. Heat needs to beef up the subs. Oh, and a new coach.

JR Smith says if Melo joins the Heat he'll stop talking to him... LOL!

Question...

If Melo is on that team do the Heat beat the Spurs?

@orlando_knickfan  Well Dallas was the only team to take the Spurs to a game 7 as an 8 seed...its all about match ups.  But...if Melo goes to dallas I don't see them winning...just saying the facts....Dallas played them the best out of all teams.

Melo would start at the 4 for miami.

Spurs were on a mission, probably not.

@mrdullah  I don't think so...but it pushes the series to a game 6 or 7...at a game 7 anything can happen..so ya never know...we will never know.
