In addition to RB Andre Brown (leg), TE Adrien Robinson (foot) and S Tyler Sash (concussion), LB Dan Connor suffered a burner.
Connor started at MLB and left the game after only nine plays. That opened the door for Mark Herzlich, who had another strong game (8 combined tackles, 1 pass defended and an INT). The competition continues…
DT Mike Patterson continued to get pressure up the middle. He recorded 1.5 sacks and made a strong case for the Giants to keep him on. DE Matt Broha showed promise for the second straight summer but there’s no way the Giants will put him on the roster, even though he’s basically earned it.
The Giants may have found their returners. Michael Cox averaged 30 yards per attempt kickoffs and even though Charles James bobbled a punt, he had a nice 38-yarder and showed some elusiveness.
Rookie S Cooper Taylor made his debut last night. He was playing in another county for most of the game (too deep), and on one play could not corral Patriots’ WR Quentin Sims, who slipped by CB Trumaine McBride and then Taylor for a 52-yard TD. Taylor did, however, force a fumble on special teams.
Andre Brown’s injury pretty much sealed a roster spot for Da’Rel Scott, but Scott did plenty to help his cause. He rushed for 25 yards on four carries and caught a 6-yard TD pass from Curtis Painter.
James Brewer started at LG, and played well, but had trouble when he slid over to tackle. TE Brandon Myers caught 3 passes for 42 yards but committed two penalties that ignited the ire of Tom Coughlin.
