Pat Kirwan of CBSSports.com is reporting that LB Desmond Bishop, who was released by the Packers earlier this week, is considering signing with several teams including the Giants.

From Rotoworld: Free agent ILB Desmond Bishop tells CBS Sports’ Pat Kirwan that he “may consider” signing with the Giants.
Bishop could also consider the Jaguars or Packers. He’d be a monster upgrade on Mark Herzlich or Dan Connor at middle linebacker for the G-Men. Kirwan gets the sense that Bishop will pick a team by the end of Thursday night. His only known visits have been to the Vikings and Chiefs on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. The soon-to-be 29-year-old would be a fit with any of the five squads.

I agree with Kirwan that Bishop could fit in with the Giants, but only if he’s healthy and agrees to a team-friendly deal. As far as we know he hasn’t been here for a visit, nor has he been connected to the Giants in any way that we know.
The Giants seem content at MLB and they bypassed several veterans in free agency because their price was too high, so chances are Bishop will also be out of their price range. He did not play in 2012 due to a hamstring injury and who knows what shape he’s in. The Giants always explore everything, but I don’t see him coming here. Their criteria for free agents is young and/or cheap. Bishop turns 29 next month and will be looking for more than the veteran minimum.
