A more spirited effort from the Giants tonight in Chicago. Take out the two INTs by Eli Manning on the first two possessions and the Giants have looked more like a team than they have all season.
Eli and WR Rueben Randle were clearly not on the same page early. On the the second INT, Randle ran an out and up route instead of an out and the ball was easily intercepted by Bears CB Tim Jennings, who coasted down the sideline 48 yards for a TD.
But the Giants rebounded with two scoring drives: a 10-play, 80 yarder culminating in a bruising, 4-yard TD run by Brandon Jacobs and a 7-play, 86 yard drive in which Randle muscled his way home for a 37-yard score.
But the Bears’ offense was equally as potent. QB Jay Cutler and WR Brandon Marshall hooked up twice for scores and Robbie Gould hit a 40 yard FG right before the half to make the score 24-14.
Eli now has 14 INTs on the season, one shy of his total for the entire 2012 season.
Jerrel Jernigan ripped off a 46-yard kickoff return.
Jacobs’ 57 yards (on 12 carries) is the highest total of any Giants RB in a game this season.
Opponents have not missed a FG attempt vs the Giants this season. Gould’s 40 yarder made it 13-13.
Your eyes aren’t deceiving you – LBs Jon Beason and Spencer Paysinger have switched uniform numbers. Beason is now 52 and Paysinger is 54.
